A couple of Silverback team members headed out to New Berlin, Wisconsin on December 16th to compete that the North American Grappling Association’s tournament.
This was the first tournament for youth team member, Bentley Weinberger. Although the match did not go his way, he did benefit from the experience of: the nervousness as the match draws nearer, the excitement of stepping out onto the mat to face an opponent, the reality of the match taking place as you each attempt to impose your will in an effort to score against or submit your opponent, the finality of the end of the match. We’re all proud of Bentley for stepping up to challenge himself and we look forward to his next tournament!
Later in the day it was coach Dylan Peterson’s turn to test himself.
Dylan started off with a nice ankle lock submission to win his first match.
He countered a leg take down with a guillotine attempt, but was not able to get the submission.
As anticipated, he had many matches throughout the day. He competed in four brackets: no-gi at weight, no-gi absolute, gi at weight, and gi absolute! We are proud of coach Dylan’s performance and willingness to “practice what he preaches”.
